What began as one store on Georgia Avenue in Washington D.C. in 1936, now has grown to over 160 stores spanning across D.C., Maryland, Virginia and Delaware. <br><br> Giant's mission is beyond stocking groceries on shelves, we strive <b>to be the most trusted and loved local food retailer in our community</b>. <br><br>Job Description :<br><br>The primary purpose of this position is to manage department responsible for in meeting or exceeding the KPI's of that department within a distribution facility.<br><br>*Assist Facility Manager with the development of operational goals and monitoring performance against operating budget.<br><br>*Control costs and develop ideas that will reduce expenses through constant process review and change. Identify potential barriers to maximizing productivity and identify resources necessary to eliminate the barriers. Identify opportunities to improve productivity or to resolve potential labor issues. Resolve union/collective bargaining agreement issues when applicable.<br><br>*Supervise and participate in developing, implementing, and evaluating plans, work processes, systems and procedures to achieve goals, objectives, and work standards, including minimizing inaccuracy and scratches.<br><br>*Accountable for the consistent application of all policies and procedures, in order to foster a positive work environment and a climate of teamwork.<br><br>*Supervises administrative hourly associates, supervisors, including planning and evaluating performances; establishing performance requirements and personal development targets; regularly monitoring performance and providing coaching for performance improvement and development. Guides the performance of facility associates while holding them accountable.<br><br>*Ensure adherence to engineered labor standards. Monitor Pay for performance reports, review and correct pay issues discovered with the payroll department, and monitor to insure compliance with accepted work methods. &bull; Partner with human resources to best prevent, and also evaluate, investigate, resolve and answer associate questions and concerns.<br><br>*Partner with human resources to improve employee relations by leading by example, and establishing and maintaining a culture of open, honest communication. Strive for a culture of shared concern for the well-being and genuine respect of all associates. Encourage opportunities to participation, collaboration, and teamwork at all level within the Distribution organization. Requires a management style that promotes an atmosphere of high performance, superior customer service and innovation, while never compromising management's integrity. &bull;<br><br>*Troubleshoot and problem solve all operating system issues and processes. Contributes innovative and effective suggestions for improving work; provides resources and support for implementation of new ideas. Models a positive approach and sense of urgency when dealing with problems.<br><br>*Develop and maintain solid partnerships with merchandising, purchasing, store operations, etc. to contribute in building a stronger cross-department team, as well as identify opportunities to improve operating efficiencies and reduce operating costs.<br><br>*Coordinates all efforts between the facility's shipping, receiving, inventory control, safety, and sanitation departments to ensure optimal facility service and productivity.<br><br>*Participate in supply chain meeting, vendor meeting and/or other interdisciplinary groups. <br><br>*Monitor all OJT, and schedules necessary to create consistency and balance between departments within the DC. <br><br>*Work with Security to ensure adherence to established security procedures.<br><br>Essential Skills :<br><br>Requirements &bull; Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Business Administration, Logistics or related field or equivalent experience.<br><br>*5-7 years of progressively responsible experience in logistics, warehousing, and/or transportation preferably within a retail organization. <br><br>*Extensive knowledge of warehouse management systems; inventory control; shipping, receiving; productivity management systems, quality management; OSHA regulations; and state safety regulations. Sound knowledge of financial analysis and budgeting. <br><br>*Excellent written and verbal communication skills; demonstrated leadership and managerial skills that generate mutual respect and understanding; strong interpersonal, coaching, conflict management, process improvement and change management skills, ability to handle multiple tasks, set priorities, and meet deadlines. &bull;<br><br>*Must be able to take assignment in any warehouse/distribution center on any shift.<br><br>Starting pay is $100K a year with potential bonus of 15%<br><br><strong>Why Work at Giant? </strong><br><br> At Giant, we love what we do, and make it easy for you to love it, too!
